Tesla plus Glass is like the future today

In the old day’s parents would send their kids out on cold mornings to start the car and let it warm up before leaving for work then came the remote start feature and it was magic. High tech cars like Tesla have Android apps that allow you to monitor the car’s performance, unlock the doors and more but that has now been eclipsed by GlassTesla which merges Google’s wearable computer with the electric car.

Developer Sahas Katta rolled out GlassTesla yesterday to the Glass Explorers community on Google Plus and the app has seen about 500 signs up in the less than 24 hours. The app interfaces with the MyTesla site but is not storing email address or any passwords. It only holds onto some session cookies, which should ease any concerns about someone hacking into GlassTesla to steal your car.  You can use the app to remotely unlock/lock your car though right now it only shows the red car. However, Katta hopes to have an update so it will soon reflect the color of your car just like the mobile app.  The Glassware will allow you to see whether the doors, trunks, or sunroof is open/closed and you can lock or unlock your car remotely and even control the sunroof for that unexpected rain storm that is about to roll in from the comfort of your highrise window office.

Check the charge and range status of your car.

Next time you are road tripping and stopping at one of those SuperCharger stations while grabbing a bite to eat you can use Glass to monitor the charge and how much range you have all from the comfort of your rest stop booth. You can even Start or stop charging via Glass and open the charge port without having to get back into your car.

Find where you parked your car.

Another cool feature, especially on road trips is the ability to locate your Tesla and get directions to it. No more wandering around trying to remember which parking lot you left it in. You can even honk the horns or flash the headlights if you still can’t spot it, though the Tesla is still a pretty unique car that it should stand out among the minivans.

monitor and adjust the A/C settings.

The kids will like this one as it means no more running outside to start the car as GlassTesla allows you to view the car’s interior and exterior temperatures and with a single tap, you can enable “auto climate” to either cool or heat your vehicle to an optimal temperature remotely, we truly are living in the future. So if you are doubly lucky enough to have both a Tesla Model S and Glass then head over to get the Glassware from GlassTesla.
